Vintage Birthday Card Tutorial

I was inspired to create a card that looked like something I may have found in the attic of my great grandmother's house. In a box full of treasures stashed away in a corner covered in dust and cobwebs.

My eyes are closed and the vision is clear in my mind. I see old, distressed paper with writing on it. The old paper is adorned with an image of red flowers. I see butterflies. It's dirty and dingy but oh so gorgeous!

I reach quickly for the colors and images (stamp sets)  I see in my vision and turn on the video camera. The result is absolutely stunning! A vintage card that looks like it's been around for at least a century!

Now, gather your supplies, join me in my craft room, and be inspired to transform paper into a little work of art.

Simple Elegance

I was inspired to create a card with texture and layers that are typically seen in an art journal or mixed media project. You know... the kind of project that leave your hands grungy and stained for days. So, I went into my craftroom and grabbed some supplies along with a lot of scrap paper. I stamped... and stamped again... then stamped some more... and, finally, this elegant yet simple card was created.

Stamping is so therapeutic! And, once your creativity starts flowing, the possibilities are endless.

Springtime In December

So, I'm in the Midwest... and it's December... and I'm wearing flip flops! If you ask the average person around here if it's warm enough to wear flip flops you'll probably get a resounding NOOOOOOO!! But I'm not the average person and, I say, if it's above freezing and sunny... guess what... I'm wearing flip flops That brings me to today's project.

This unusually "warm" weather has me thinking springtime and butterflies and that is my inspiration for today's project. I am absolutely in love with how this card turned out. The soft colors and the rough edges are a match made in heaven.

Check out the supplies I used below and if you want to order any of them just click on the picture or contact me. The only thing I used that is not listed on the supply list are the scissors I used to distress the edges of the paper... any pair of scissors will do the trick. Christmas In Pink

I was organizing my craftroom tonight and came across some remnants of Graphic 45's Nutcracker Sweet paper stack. This lovely pink ballerina inspired me to create a Christmas card and I want to share it with you.

Don't you just love the non-traditional color pallet? I kept things simple by fuzzy cutting some images from the paper. Wait a minute! Did I just type fuzzy cutting and simple in the same sentence? Lol! Fuzzy cutting is so therapeutic. Really, it is Oh, how I love this paper. I'm so sad it's retired.
